Braj Development Board to become functional by this fin yr end
Mathura, Dec 10 (PTI) Brij Development Board, a legally constituted body by the Uttar Pradesh Govt for ensuring integrated development of Brijbhumi region, would become properly functional by the end of this financial year, officials said today.
Owing to influx of pilgrims, initially the concentration would be on the development of Vrindaban, Mathura and Goverdhan, however, gradually development of other pilgrim centres of Mathura, would also be taken up.
“Green signal has been given to rope way in Barsana after including that city in Mathura Vrindaban Development Authority,” Principal Secretary, Avas UP, Sadakant told reporters.
“Consists of 12 members, including two private members, the board would also plan, monitor and assess the quality of development. While district-level committee would by headed by R D Paliwal as the CEO, the state-level committee would be chaired by the chief minister. It would be an independent board for the development of Brijbhumi”, he said.
So far there was a “hurdle” in accepting “donations” for development, from philanthropic persons or doners, however, with the formation of the board , the hurdle has been cleared.
“The area of the board, initially would be limited to Mathura only, however depending on the progress of Mathura, area of Brij falling in neighbouring districts may be taken up later”, he added.
Except district-level plan, work of developmental grants of different department, would come under the “umbrella” of the board, he said.
It has been decided to increase number of approach roads for Vrindaban. Green signal has been given to 20 roads of Mathura district, including Chatikara Yamuna Bridge Road and Jait to Sunarakh road.
“The installation of LED, for preventing accident, on two bridges of Yamuna, separate parking for tractor and jugad in Vrindaban have also been cleared in the meeting of Mathura Vrindaban Development Authority today,” he said.
District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar and Vice-Chairman of Mathura Vrindaban Development authority C P Singh were also present on the occasion. PTI CORR KND
